Electricity from Hydraulic Power for Porextherm production plants

Since January 2013, Porextherm Dämmstoffe GmbH is being serviced with electricity from 100% hydraulic power from the regional provider AÜW (Allgäuer Überlandwerk GmbH). The electricity is produced 100% from hydraulic power in accordance with the strictest criteria of the “CMS Standard Creation EE” of the TÜV Süd for Renewable Energies in CO2-free hydraulic power plants. Through this change to electricity from hydraulic power, Porextherm GmbH will save the emission of ca. 2,435 tons of CO2 annually. This is equivalent to the amount which an area of ca. 1.873.000 m² of forest can store.

In addition, both locations of Porextherm have also been connected to the environmentally friendly district heating network of the ZAK Energie GmbH in Kempten since the beginning of the year. The district heating network of the ZAK Energie GmbH works with 100% combined heat and power. Due to this environmentally friendly energy source, no further noxious emissions will be accrued at our plants. The CO2-free energy supply shows a certified primary energy factor of 0. Porextherm Dämmstoffe GmbH is making a further active contribution to the topic of climate protection.
